Q. How much is the fee? |
A. $60 per hour x 6 hours is our minimum starter package = 360$ Registration fee = $75 one time only Monthly materials fee = $15 Total $450 Renewal follows after we finish the first package of hours. |
Q. Can I make a group with my friends / family? |
A. Yes, you are welcome to join us with your friends or family. Group rate is 35$ per hour per person. |
Q. What is the cancellation policy? |
A. Cancelling and rescheduling of tutoring sessions should be done 24 hours in advance. Full lesson fee is charged for same day cancellation. |

A. At Aardvark Learning Academy, professional teachers who have graduated from universities in Canada and their home countries provide lessons. We hire experienced educators. For more information, please visit our Instructor Page. |

Q. My child is in French immersion. Can you help? |
A. Yes, we are available to teach children participating in French immersion. At Aardvark, Parents understand the importance of French for their child's future but do not necessarily speak French themselves. Here is where the Aardvark French teacher can help dramatically. Q: I am an adult student and I want to study FRENCH for Permanent Residency. I do NOT speak any French right now. How many hours does it take before I can reach a B2 level in the European Common Framework?
A: 250 hours is a good barometer for a person who is mono lingual. However, someone that is already multilingual might be able to acquire French faster than a person who is mono lingual. To be on the safe side, give yourself 250 hours of French FSL and roughly 6 months of study to write the exam.

All ESL courses are taught by Dr. Jeff Hawkins, Ph.D., founder of Aardvark Learning Academy. Since 2013, Dr. Hawkins has been teaching ESL Adults in Barrie, ON — covering reading, writing, listening, and speaking for both general and academic purposes. His background also includes extensive experience in teaching English internationally having taught students and trained instructors at Lakehead University, IPG Batu Lintang (Malaysia), Griffith University (Australia), and Kanda University (Japan). With over 25 years teaching experience, Jeff is well prepared to help you achieve your ESL / CELPIP or Academic English goals. Joining Dr. Hawkins is Angie Norman, M.A., an experienced ESL instructor bringing additional expertise to our adult English programs.
When is the next in-person class starting?
Enrolment is ongoing and open — you can join our Skyrocket Your English Skills daytime course at any time. Evening classes are also available by appointment.
What are the class days and times?
Daytime group classes run in the afternoon, from 1:00–3:30 PM. Evening sessions can be arranged by appointment.
How many students are usually in each class?
Classes are kept small, typically ranging from 1 to 6 students, so every learner gets plenty of individual attention.
What is the total course fee, including any registration or material fees?
The course fee is $875, all-inclusive — there are no separate registration or material fees.
Do you assess my English level before registration?
Yes. We use a test similar in style to the IELTS speaking and writing assessment to determine your current level and make sure you're placed in the right class.
How much of the class focuses on speaking and conversation?
Every class includes a speaking component, and about 50% of total class time is dedicated to speaking and listening skills.
How long is the program?
The program runs 25 hours over 5 weeks.
Do you cover Academic English, College and University preparation?
Yes. Our courses use the Skills for Success textbook which is renowned for academic English preparation. The series is specifically designed for ESL English Adult learners and high school students to build the reading, ESSAY Writing, listening, and speaking skills needed to succeed in high school, college, university and professional life.

Q. Will you provide a visa to stay in Canada? |
A. No. Aardvark Learning Academy is not a Designated Learning Institute and does not provide a Study Visa or Student Visa. International students are only accepted on Visitors Visa, Work Visa, or Online. |
